Lush 2014 Winter/Christmas Collection

This time last year was my first time discovering the amazing-ness that is Lush. I had been watching different beauty gurus on Youtube, and one of the things they always talked about were the bath bombs and bubble bars from Lush, so I decided to give them a try for Christmas. Just like anyone who's used their products before, it gets entirely too addictive, which is probably why I've managed to buy 1/2 of the bath products Lush has ever made in the last year (I wish I was exaggerating).

Christmas is the perfect time to try out the store, because they always go all out for their holiday collection. The Christmas/Winter Holiday Collection is a lot larger than the Halloween one so I was only able to buy about 1/3 of it (mostly because I'm a broke college student). These are the products I found had the most value for their price, while also smelling the best.

Christmas Hedgehog

The Christmas Hedgehog is a new product this year for Lush, and it's probably one of their cutest. The Hedgehog is unique because it is half bubble bar, and half bath melt. To get the bubbles you still have to crush it under running water like the regular bubble bars, but you also get the amazing benefits that are included in the bath melts. The soft blue (which reminds me of icicles) gives the product a wintery feel, because really what do hedgehogs have to do with Christmas anyway, other than warming peoples hearts due to their adorableness? The smell is a mixture of floral sweet (lavender and rose) but has a hint of cocoa butter. Careful when handling though, this product starts to melt as soon as you pick it up.

Golden Wonder

Golden Wonder is probably the largest product out of the collection, and for good reason to since it holds something special inside. The exterior of the bath bomb has a white bow and a shimmering gold box, but don't mistake it for being boring! On the inside there is an array of different colours, in particular blue and pink, that brighten up your bath. Golden Wonder has an extremely sweet aroma, while having a hint of orange citrus to it. The gold sparkles on the outside give your skin a little bit of shine, which is always nice since the winter months can leave your skin looking a little dull.

Melting Snowman

Melting Snowman is the first Lush product I ever used, and it turned out to be one of my favourites! In fact, instead of picking up a new product to try I decided to get this one since I loved it so much last year. Now this product may seem a little small for the price, but since it is a melt (which hold the most amount of beneficial oils for your skin) I think it is well worth it. If the eyes and buttons look a little too realistic, that's because they are made from real dairy-free chocolate (although I don't recommend eating them!) This little guy has a spicy aroma to him, nice for a late night bath. The product features Shea butter, almond oil, and some cinnamon and clove oil to give it its scent.

Cinders

Probably the first thing you'll notice about Cinders, other than its bright orange colour, is it's extremely sweet scent. The first time I picked it up in Lush I thought that I was smelling those Rockets candies. Although it's really sweet, it's a warm scent as opposed to being a flowery one, so it makes it perfect for a late night bath followed by relaxing by the fire. As you can see in the picture, there's some crackling candy to make the experience feel even more like an evening by the fire.

Luxury Lush Pud

Lush is quite popular over in the United Kingdom, which is probably why they chose to make a Christmas product this year inspired by a popular dessert over there. This is definitely the most colourful product from this year's collection, as there are blue, yellow, green, and orange polka dots in addition the the neon pink. I would say this is more of a daytime product, due to its flowery lavender scent. The price may seem a bit steep for a bath bomb, however it's about the same size as the Golden Wonder product (which means it's huge basically).

Christmas Penguin

It wouldn't be a Lush collection if there wasn't at least one adorable, semi-deformed product in the mix! I think the smudge of orange/yellow at the bottom is supposed to be the feet? Well don't worry, yours might look a lot better than mine since each one is hand-crafted to look different (which explains why the pictures on the Lush website look so much better than mine). I would say this product is big enough to use more than once. Now the smell isn't the best one in the collection, as it has that laundry detergent vibe, but it's easy to get used to. This product has hints of orange, lemon, mandarin, and other citrusy scents to it.

Butterbear

Now technically Butterbear is a product that you can buy all year round, since it's the same mixture that's used for the Butterball bath bomb product. However if you would like to try it out first, the Butterbear is smaller than it's counterpart and therefore doesn't clean out the wallet as quickly. I'm actually surprised they managed to get the shape of the bear to look so good (I'm looking at you Christmas Penguin), it even has a cute little nose! It's no wonder that Butterball/bear is one of Lush's best selling products, because unlike most of the store's sweet scents which are flowery, this one smells like pure vanilla. It's not the most exciting product to watch as there are no little surprises inside, but come on, it's vanilla!
